ABOUT OUR DRUM PROGRAM (AGES 6+)
Drums are one of the most fun instruments anyone can learn and are a great choice for kids and adults alike! We offer weekly private drum lessons to students starting at age 6 and have 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons available. We teach a variety of different styles such as rock, pop, jazz, latin, classical percussion, and more. Learn to play the beats to your favorite songs, or improve percussion technique for your band at school. If your little one is full of energy and banging on pots and pans at home, drum lessons can be a great creative outlet!
For maximum convenience, we offer drum lessons from each of our locations in Annandale, Ashburn, Burke, Herndon, Vienna, Novi, West Bloomfield, Plymouth-Canton, Rochester Hills and Troy.
DRUM Lessons FOR BEGINNERS
All of our drum instructors love working with beginners, and have experience creating a structured program to help students master all the foundational aspects of not only drumming technique, but also rhythm, theory, and reading music. Instructors use both method books and the student’s favorite songs to teach concepts, generally starting with the snare drum and quickly moving to use the entire drum set. Our drum rooms have two full acoustic sets so the instructor can demonstrate on one set while the student plays on the other.
DRUMS FOR EXPERIENCED STUDENTS
Whether students have been self-taught, have experience from another instructor or school, or gained all their experience at Expressions, we know how to help them reach the next goal. Intermediate or advanced drum or percussion students learn how to play more challenging music and fine-tune and polish their playing by mastering more advanced techniques and theoretical applications. Whether students want to learn a new style, prepare for a high school or college audition, get good enough to join a band, or just keep playing for fun, our instructors have the knowledge and experience to get them there.
DRUMS FOR ADULTS
There is no greater way to release stress than banging on the drums to your favorite songs! Our instructors enjoy working with adults whether they are brand new beginners or already have some experience playing. After talking through your specific goals, our instructors will create a structured plan that will have you on a path to success before you know it, all while jamming out, relieving stress, sharpening your skills, and having a blast! Every one of our instructors has been screened, auditioned, interviewed, selected, and trained to teach our students with the utmost patience and care. All our instructors either hold or are pursuing music degrees in music and all have had prior experience teaching music. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING AND MAKEUP OPTIONS 7 DAYS A WEEK
We have many weekday afternoon and evenings and Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon lesson times, and we're open all year round, including the summer. If you need to cancel your lesson or change your lesson time, no problem! Our busy families love our convenient unlimited makeup lesson and schedule change policy. And if you’re too busy or unable to come in for a make-up lesson, you can even request that your teacher create you a custom video make-up lesson instead! There are plenty of flexible options for all.
FREE OPTIONAL RECITALS TWO TIMES PER YEAR
Students want to feel motivated to practice and parents want to see progress, and our optional recitals accomplish both these objectives. We offer a variety of recital options and themes in our very own concert hall twice each year. We pride ourselves on our well-organized, warm, supportive performance events which never last longer than an hour... and they’re entirely free for all involved!
LEVEL UP MUSIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
Our students have been enthusiastically climbing from levels 1 through 10, earning certificates, wristbands, stickers, and trophies since we launched this signature program in 2012. Think about the martial arts Black Belt program… but for music lessons! This structured, nationally recognized, and motivating program is completely free (and optional) for Expressions students of all ages, and our students have never been more motivated to master their instrument!
MONTH TO MONTH LESSON STRUCTURE
No long-term quarterly or annual commitments. Students are only committed to a month at time.
