I was introduced to music early on because my parents were musicians. I started playing piano when I was 5 and made the switch to the drums at the age of 10. At age 12 I began studying with Michigan drummer Mike Shea, who exposed me to many different styles of drumming. Over the next 9 years I studied with notable modern drummers such as Mike Johnston, JP Bouvet, Sean Dobbins, and more. These teachers exposed me to many styles ranging from jazz to metal, and taught me a lot about what it takes to be a working musician in the modern world.
I have been playing the drums professionally for 7 years and teaching for the past 3 years. Performing will always be a big part of my career, but education is equally as important to me. To be an effective music teacher you need to be as passionate about education as you are about playing your instrument so my goal as a teacher is to put the same positive energy into a lesson as I would put into a performance. Learning to play the drums taught me a lot about how to be disciplined and how to set and achieve goals. I find the process of sharing that with others to be very fulfilling. I have experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, and my lessons are catered to the specific students needs and desires. Whatever your drumming goals are, I look forward to helping you reach them!
