Danielle Watt

Danielle Watt was playing the piano as soon she could reach the piano keys. She joined her older siblings by having fun making lots of noise and playing music on any instrument found in their parents’ music room. The Watt home was built with a music room instead of a dining room since the love and joy of music was a family priority. Upon seeing Danielle notably interested in music, her mother signed her up for piano lessons at the age of five. Even at a young age, Danielle was musically active in the Piano Federation and both the Hand Bell Choir and Children’s Vocal Choir at her private school. In high school, she was also an active member of marching band and concert band playing in drumline and percussion. Strong musical piano background, teaching and leadership skills helped Danielle earn the first chair position for three years in concert band and drumline captain her senior year.

She continued her musical education by earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Eastern Michigan University. She studied under the priceless instruction of Dr. Joel Schoenhals for four years. Danielle was eager to study beyond her degree’s requirements taking an additional year of piano lessons to complete an Undergraduate Senior Honor Thesis Project by preparing for and performing a senior piano recital. Additionally, she was actively involved in musical opportunities during her time at Eastern such at singing in the University Choir, accompanying various instruments for performances, and performing piano for four hands.

Danielle currently holds several positions working provisionally for the Metroparks as an Operations Clerk, Dispatcher, and Tollbooth Supervisor. In her spare time Danielle enjoys the outdoors, gardening, harvesting maple syrup, crafting (e.g., knitting, crocheting, tatting, sewing, felting), cooking baking and canning. She is also known to make her own yarn at her spinning wheel. Yeah…we did not see that one coming! No, she does not have any sheep. Maybe alpacas one day.  She does have a cat who just adores her. This cat is one loyal audience member always stopping in the music room for a moment to listen to Danielle play at the piano.

Concurrently, Danielle teaches private piano lessons in her local community and is an organist/pianist and choir director at a local church. She enjoys working as a piano instructor in Novi at Expressions Music Academy sharing her love and passion for music to the wonderful people there.
