Piano

I was born in Qingdao, a very charming seashore city in China. I love music from my childhood and started to learn piano when I was 6 years old. Not only can music cultivate my sentiments, but also has trained me to have an optimistic and cheerful heart. In 2006, I was admitted to the Piano Performance major in the College of Music of Qingdao University in Shandong Province, China. I understand that every good work deserves hard work. I took participate in many competitions in piano performance to practice my piano skills and emotion expression. In 2010, I received the undergraduate degree certificate and diplomas and won the "Outstanding Graduate of Shandong Province”.
Although there is no border for music, the piano performance originated from the Western countries. There are still many differences between Chinese and Western musical professionals in understanding and teaching music. I believe that a musician should not only have good skills but also be familiar with the culture and humanity that are critical for a musician to get deep insight into the music content. A piano lesson of International Music Master class gave my deeper impression and inspired my desire to go abroad for graduate training. I am very grateful to the Eastern Michigan University for providing me a valuable opportunity. In 2010, I was admitted by Eastern Michigan University to pursue my master degree of piano performance with graduate assistantship. Under the instruction of Dr. Pedersen, I won the first prize in Graduate Performance Competition of Eastern Michigan University in 2011. As I graduated at Eastern Michigan University, I was admitted by James Madison university as a doctoral student in piano performance, piano pedagogy and piano literature,2014. During those years of studying the piano, I have enriched my experience in piano performance, accompaniment and teaching capability.
For piano teaching, I have my own teaching theories and teaching styles which combine Chinese and American teaching idea to teaching students what they need. I teach students how to play piano with students’ interesting rather than only help them done their jobs. My teaching goal is to improve and develop students’ ability about comprehensive understanding of music so that enables them to play the piano with enjoyment and musicality. For piano accompany, I had various accompany experiences on vocal and instrumental performance, such as their auditions, recitals, juries, competitions, performances and music shows.
Currently I am served as a piano instructor at Expressions Music Academy and very excited to meet the upcoming students.
