ABOUT OUR WOODWIND AND BRASS PROGRAM (AGES 8+)

Clarinet, saxophone, flute, oboe, trumpet, horn, tuba, and trombone instruction is offered as weekly 30, 45, or 60-minute private lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Most of our wind students are preparing to be in or already in band or orchestra at school, and have enrolled in private lessons to get them the help they need in their music, learn additional solo repertoire or audition for a higher chair in their band or orchestra. Our instructors have been extremely successful in helping students to reach their goals and succeed in their school ensemble.

For maximum convenience, we offer woodwind and brass lessons from each of our locations in Annandale, Ashburn, Burke, Herndon, Vienna, Novi, West Bloomfield, Plymouth-Canton, Rochester Hills and Troy.

WINDS FOR BEGINNERS

All of our woodwind and brass instructors love working with beginners and have experience creating a structured program to help students master foundational aspects such as good posture, embouchure, breathing, intonation, tone production, note-reading, rhythm, theory, and more while ensuring that the student is having a positive experience and loving their lessons. Whether your child is preparing to start a wind instrument in school soon, or whether they just want to give one of these beautiful instruments a try, our instructors will help to create a strong foundation.

WINDS FOR EXPERIENCED STUDENTS

Whether students come to us with prior experience from their school orchestra or a private teacher, or whether they started with us as beginners and continued to advance, we know how to help them reach their next goal. Intermediate or advanced woodwind and brass students learn how to play more challenging music and fine-tune and polish their playing by mastering more advanced techniques and theoretical applications. Whether students want to learn a new style, prepare for a competition or audition, or just keep playing for fun, we have the skills and experience to get them there.

WINDS FOR ADULTS

Many of our adult woodwind and brass students have always had the dream of playing one of these instruments, and many others played as a child and wish to pick their instrument back up again. Whether students have a busy career, are a busy parent, or are a retired adult, our instructors are delighted to help them learn and enjoy how to play their favorite songs and styles of music. If you need to cancel your lesson or change your lesson time, no problem! Our busy families love our convenient unlimited makeup lesson and schedule change policy. And if you’re too busy or unable to come in for a make-up lesson, you can even request that your teacher create you a custom video make-up lesson instead! There are plenty of flexible options for all.

FREE OPTIONAL RECITALS TWO TIMES PER YEAR

Students want to feel motivated to practice and parents want to see progress, and our optional recitals accomplish both these objectives. We offer a variety of recital options and themes in our very own concert hall twice each year. We pride ourselves on our well-organized, warm, supportive performance events which never last longer than an hour... and they’re entirely free for all involved!

LEVEL UP MUSIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM

Our students have been enthusiastically climbing from levels 1 through 10, earning certificates, wristbands, stickers, and trophies since we launched this signature program in 2012. Think about the martial arts Black Belt program… but for music lessons! This structured, nationally recognized, and motivating program is completely free (and optional) for Expressions students of all ages, and our students have never been more motivated to master their instrument!
